You will learn the theoretical and practical base for the preparation of the underground for panel painting so-called gesso. This gesso was also used in the production of furniture and shields.

During the course we will look at the use of gesso in history and I will teach you how to prepare these materials yourself. I will show you how to prepare your own egg tempera and the basics of painting with this technique.

You will take home one prepared panel for painting and the other panel with a small piece from the Viennese model book from the years 1410/1420.

 

The course includes materials (2 wooden panels, materials for gesso and painting of model book) and small snack.
