Gilding of initials

This time the topic will be leaf gold and its application to flexible materials such as parchment/paper. We will focus on historical techniques and recipes, especially ammonia gilding of the early Middle Ages and gilding on gesso typical of the High Middle Ages.

We will show the production of shell gold and various styles of decorating the gold background in initials.

The course will be in Olomouc on March 7, 2026 10:00 – 18:00 (19:00) with a lunch break.

The course price includes recipes, materials and 24kt gold.
