Panel painting Bathsheba Bathing, replica

Panel painting – Bathsheba Bathing. The original is stored in the Getty Museum as a full-page miniature in the Book of Hours of King Louis XII of France (1498-1515). Its illuminator is Jean Bourdichon, the court painter of the French kings.

Painting technique:                                                                                                                                                                                                        The wooden panel is covered with canvas, then is applied a chalk-glue base called gesso. 24kt gold leaf is put to the red bole and polished. The painting with egg tempera and shell gold. The entire work is fixed with copal varnish.
