Painted renaissance Treble Cornett – 440Hz
1.600,00 €
The Longa Model of Treble Cornett was created in collaboration with colleagues from Longa & Brevis, who made the instrument’s body from maple wood. The instrument features G fingerings and is tuned to 440 Hz.
The painted decoration is inspired by the illuminations found in manuscript choir books of the Brotherhood of Our Lady from the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch (c. 1450–1600).
Painting technique:
The body of the cornett was covered with gesso (a glue-and-chalk base). 24-kt gold leaf was applied in selected areas, which were prepared before with a red egg bole. The remaining surfaces were hand-painted with egg tempera. The entire work was sealed multiple times with shellac varnish.
The instrument is intended for professional performance and may also serve as a collector’s piece.
